# 🔴 FINAL FIX - Replace API Key

## Current Status:
- ❌ **API Key**: `re_your_api_key_here` (PLACEHOLDER - 20 characters)
- ✅ **From Email**: `BUILDMATE <onboarding@resend.dev>` (Correct - no verification needed)
- ❌ **Error**: "API key is invalid"

## The Problem:
The error message says "verify your domain" but the **real problem** is the **invalid API key**.

Your `.env.local` has:
```
RESEND_API_KEY=re_your_api_key_here
```

This is a **placeholder**, not a real key. Resend rejects it with "API key is invalid".

## ✅ THE FIX (3 Steps):

### Step 1: Get Real API Key
1. Open: **https://resend.com/api-keys**
2. Sign in (or create free account)
3. Click **"Create API Key"**
4. Name it: `BUILDMATE`
5. **COPY THE KEY** (starts with `re_`, 40+ characters)
   - Example: `re_abc123xyz456def789ghi012jkl345mno678pqr901stu234vwx567`
   - ⚠️ You'll only see it once!

### Step 2: Update .env.local
1. Open `.env.local` in VS Code
2. Find this line:
   ```
   RESEND_API_KEY=re_your_api_key_here
   ```
3. **Replace** `re_your_api_key_here` with your **actual key** from Step 1
4. Save (Ctrl+S)

### Step 3: Restart Server
1. Press **Ctrl+C** in terminal
2. Run: `pnpm dev`

## ✅ After Fixing:

You should see in terminal:
```
📧 Sending verification email to: your-email@gmail.com
📧 From email: BUILDMATE <onboarding@resend.dev>
📧 API Key configured: Yes
✅ Email sent successfully
```

And you'll receive the email in your Gmail inbox!
